Damp Crawl Space Inspection in Kingston, OH

A homeowner in Kingston, Ohio, called Mid-State Basement Systems with concerns about moisture in his crawl space. Our Appointment Center Representative, Bill, helped the homeowner schedule an inspection to address his concerns.

Before the appointment, we sent a pre-inspection packet to the homeowner that includes educational information on crawl space repair, as well as the services we typically offer to address wet, damp, and musty crawl spaces.

On the scheduled appointment date our Inspector, Andy, called ahead to let the homeowner know he was on his way. Once he arrived, Andy began by discussing the homeowner's concerns, the history of the home, and any other relevant information. Then, Andy inspected the home from top to bottom, beginning in the exterior and then working his way into the crawl space.

Andy confirmed several areas of water entry in the crawl space. Luckily, he did not find any structural concerns with the foundation. Upon concluding the inspection, Andy recommended a crawl space encapsulation with our CleanSpace system, a new crawl space sump pump, vent covers to seal out moisture and humid air, and SilverGlo rigid foam insulation panels to more effectively insulate the crawl space from the surrounding earth.

Crawl Space SmartJack Installation in Kingston, OH

A homeowner in Kingston, Ohio, had a crack where the wall met the ceiling in the living room. After researching the problem online, the homeowner suspected it was due to foundation settlement. She called Mid-State Basement Systems to come out and investigate the problem by inspecting the crawl space. Our Sales Inspector, Tim, confirmed that the foundation was sinking, causing the ceiling and wall to crack as they pulled away from each other.

We sent a crew to the home to fix the problem by installing 16 SmartJack support beams in the crawl space. This involves digging out a section of the crawl space floor and pouring a concrete footing. This provides a solid foundation for the SmartJack to be installed on. The crew also installed an 80-foot support beam to strengthen and support the existing beam. Now, the foundation is stabilized and the crew was even able to lift it back towards its original position.

Basement Waterproofing in Kingston, OH

An historic home in Kingston, Ohio, had a severe case of leaky walls and flooding. The homeowner contacted Mid-State Basement Systems for the best solution. We sent our Sales Inspector, Tim, to help. After inspecting the basement, Tim recommended our WaterGuard basement waterproofing system and CleanSpace wall vapor barrier to protect against groundwater leaks and seepage.

On the day of the job, our crew arrived and got to work installing WaterGuard. They start by digging a trench around the basement perimeter. Next, they install the WaterGuard drainage pipe snugly against the wall inside the trench. After that, the crew installs the CleanSpace wall vapor barrier and re-concretes the floor for a seamless finish. As a final touch, the crew replaced the old basement sump pump with a new Zoller sump pump.
