Let's Talk About Mold

Do You Have Mold?

Do you have mold lurking in the recesses of your home? Even if mold out of sight, that doesn't mean it can't be harmful to you or others in the home. Let's talk a little about what health problems mold can cause and how to get rid of it.

What Health Problems Can Mold Cause?

The EPA says, "allergic reactions to mold are common." These reactions can happen immediately or over time. Even if you are not allergic to mold, long-term exposure can still cause upper respiratory symptoms. Mold can also trigger asthma attacks.

How to Prevent and Wipe Out Mold

To clean up the mold and prevent reactions, the CDC recommends controlling humidity levels indoors with a dehumidifier if air conditioning is not sufficient. The humidity levels should be between 30% and 50% at all times, according to the CDC. They also recommend promptly repairing any leaks or causes of leaks in the home if they occur.

How We Can Help Prevent and Eradicate Mold

Mold typically grows in damp areas like basements and crawl spaces. Due to the stack effect, mold in these places can easily spread throughout your home. This effect is the result of heat rising and carrying things like mold spores with it. Then, it disperses the spores all through the upstairs floors.

If you have mold, dampness, leaking, or other related concerns, Mid-State Basement Systems can help! First, we can remove existing mold with our Mold-X2 products. Then, to prevent further growth, we offer state-of-the-art, warrantied dehumidifiers, waterproofing drains, vapor barriers, and more.
