Crawl Space Encapsulation via Subfloor in Powell, OH
Challenge
A homeowner in Powell, Ohio, was dealing with moisture and mold in their crawl space. Our Sales Inspector, Joe D., paid a visit to the home to investigate the extent of the problem and recommend a solution to address it. The inspection was an interesting one due to how small the crawl space was. There was only about 8-10 inches of clearance between the ground and the floor joists! Once the inspection was complete, Joe recommended encapsulating the crawl space to seal out moisture and the homeowner agreed to have us come out to compete the job.
Solution
We sent our production crew, led by Foreman Jorge V., to the home to complete the encapsulation project. In order to access the crawl space, the crew carefully removed the wood plank floors in the customer's living room and placed them aside. They then removed the subfloor to expose the crawl space below. The crew then got to work installing drainage matting on the crawl space floor to help with moisture dispersion. Next, they laid the CleanSpace liner on top of the drainage matting to seal the crawl space from the ground.
The crew also managed to squeeze a sump pump system and dehumidifier in the crawl space as well. Since this crawl space is particularly difficult to access, we hooked up the system to a WaterWatch alarm to alert the homeowner to high water levels. This allows time for intervention before any water damage occurs.
After tidying up the crawl space, the crew replaced the subfloor and left the living room broom-clean. The homeowner now has peace of mind knowing that her crawl space is moisture, mold, and pest-free!
