Severe Foundation Wall Failure in Lima, OH
Challenge
A home in Lima, Ohio, had a block foundation with significant stair-step cracking that was causing the blocks to separate and migrate inward. If left unaddressed, the wall could eventually collapse from the hydrostatic pressure exerted on it from water in the soil. Not only that, but the large cracks were allowing water to leak into the basement as well. After a top-to-bottom inspection, our Sales Inspector, Corey, discussed his findings with the homeowner to find the best solution.
Solution
Our solution to this problem was two-fold: First, we had to stabilize the foundation wall and prevent it from further movement or collapse. We did this by installing our GeoLock wall anchor system.
Heavy-duty earth anchors are embedded in stable soil away from your foundation wall and are then connected to steel anchors with long, galvanized rods. Once tightened, the anchors will hold the wall securely in its current position. This system provides instant stability to the failing wall and can even be tightened to correct the wall over time.
Our crew, led by Levi F., also waterproofed the basement with our WaterGuard french drain system and installed a SuperSump sump pump to keep wall leaks from flooding the basement.
